Static Lullaby Empty Static Lullaby

The pitter-patter of rain soothed her, singing a soft dream of blissful hope and rebirth. The rain did not come often in her little slice of paradise and when it did, she ravenously partook of it. A rare creature that needed to be nurtured. There she stood in the middle of her endless field. Lackluster eyes loomed over the sea of hills. Her petite frame could be easily surpassed, for she was not a woman of any color. Her honey colored hair darkening from the rains presence. Lips, soft as roses, barely held a ripe shade of pink. Her eyes a deafening hue, all traces of life locked away, besides for the little cinders of hope that glittered without remorse in the back of her eyes. Her flesh as tender as moonlight; the ghostly skin blended in almost flawlessly with the sheer white gown she wore like a manikin on display. The wet white, sheer, fabric stuck to very curve on her body, leaving no room for mystery and mistakes. A being that could not even produce an ounce of color. Lifeless among the living essence of the falling tears.

The first whip of thunder cracked and with it her first shuttered breath. Evollette’s life could be ruminate of a static lullaby. A tune that kept playing, no change in pace, just stagnate music that kept looping for all eternity. She imagined this would be the happiest time in her life, but the calm here in which she lived was not what she dreamed of. One after another the days came, never ceasing, always the same. Bringing nothing. Was this the will of the Gods for her punishment? Was her future just a dark corridor of duty and darkness with a blotted door at the end? The Gods revoked her as The Condemned. That is all she could ever be, her fate stamped at birth. Death did not get the luxury to experience life. Foolish of she who thought otherwise.

Her chin tipped to the crystalline stars. So it was written in the skies of her failure and so it shall be; she conceded. Fighting only provoked the untamable beast. Stirring emotions and desires that should not be otherwise present. Misery, a constant state of her wellbeing. That cinder in her soul, fading, snuffled by the rain she was forced to stand in. The woman could only protect the last bit of fire before the odds that were against her claimed victory. Her demons were her only friends, for they are the only ones that dared comfort her pitiful soul. She could feel it, their victory, as the rain washed away the pain and replaced it with a dull empty void.

Static Lullaby Empty Re: Static Lullaby

Aldrid looked on at the woman standing in the field, still as this timeless place, never moving forward. His heart felt heavy at the sight of her, the tumultous rain laying bare all that she was, washing away everything that she built up around her to protect her fragile state; there was no hiding it, there was nothing but accepting the judgement lain down before her - no more lies, no more silence, no more anything but the raw, painful truth. He took one step, and then another, his bare feet gliding along with that strange grace, until he stood behind her, the woman who stared up at the stars, and their mocking light.

He didn't know why, only that he did. His arms carefully slipped around her, strong and wirey with muscle, scarred with the many, many trials of a long life; arms that had taken life, arms that had given life - arms that had protected, and arms that had failed. Regret, pain, shame, love, joy - everything he had come to experience, everything he had come to hold dear to him, like her, had been washed away in that rain. Now he was just a man, caught somewhere between forgetfulness, and belonging, and in that purgatory he had found himself here in this crimson twilight with a being more beautiful and broken than he had ever seen, a heart of clock work, and a soul of shattered glass.

His face burried in her hair, inhaling the scent she shared with everything around her, sweet as the somber fields of flowers, and bitter as the fresh rains. Yet there he stood with her, as naked, alone and broken as she, no sword accompanying him, no world worn boots - there were no battles to fight, and no more roads to walk; for all roads lead to death, and here he stood at its threshhold with a being as pure and dark and everything in between as it; here he stood behind death with his arms around her - reminding her that though the gods might be cruel, she would never be alone.

Static Lullaby Empty Re: Static Lullaby

Her heart was the strongest muscle in her body, but the dead weight of her form was weighting on her. The constant pressure of expectations, duty, and judgement placing bricks upon her back. The pressure all-consuming and far too great for her to take upon herself anymore. Her knees buckling, but she did not falter, crashing to the ground as gravity intended. There was a force that slithered its arms around her petite frame and kept her upright. She wanted nothing more than to accept all the cards dealt in her direction by The Dealer. Yet, there he was. Without warning, the solid figure embraced her without question, accepting her fully. All her weakness came crashing down on him, her backside leaning heavily into his frame for complete and utter support. Without him, she would not, and could not stand on her own two tired feet.

There was a raw instinct, her arms reaching up to curl around the steady ones he held around her waist with a firm ferocity. The pads of her finger tips brushed against his skin in longing. His comfort could not be explained in rational words and context. There was no use in trying to find the words, for there was none. Nothing that could explain what was trembling through her body. Her finger tips no longer felt soft against his arms, but the tips of her nails began to sink in slightly to the flesh. She wanted nothing more than to feel this, experience human touch, HIS touch. It was not simply enough to know he was there, but to feel it, know it existed and it was tangible. That she could claim the texture, remember the sensation in fine detail, and paint a picture to its importance. Before long, the rain beat down upon her reminding her of everything and forgetting nothing. Her thin claws began to rake at his arms that held her, pressing her the pads of her fingers against him, time and time again. Nothing. Not a single, responsive expression of what he was; hope.

If he tried to say she was crying; she would deny it with a vicious growl. Tears came, and there was no stopping there silence presence as they drifted down her face. There was no whimper that rumbled from her, no cry for help, and she did not need ask anything from him. His face was so close, she knew by the way her head tilted slightly to the side as his face lent into her to smell her wet clumped up, braided hair. She wished she could feel his breath upon her breath, receive a shiver down her spine from how near he was, but all she received was this painful void. Yet, she still searched for him, pressing her hands against him, starching slightly, to gain Hope from his very soul.

Static Lullaby Empty Re: Static Lullaby

Aldrid felt her fingers digging into him, scrabbling for some sort of purchase, searching for something, looking for feeling - anything. The weight of her against him was heavier than anything he had ever felt, though he stood still and strong even as her lament screamed soundlessly out to him; yet some part of him heard it, wanting to be heard - no - begging to be heard. He turned her about, granting her his strength where hers failed, and pulled her to his chest, his arms only tightening. He vowed then to himself - a message only conveyed by his presence, that he would never let her go. He would never leave this abandoned soul; there was no other place for him now save to stand at her side.

The rain felt cold, and in its snide touch it mocked them - snide and cruel and vicious. The sight of the tears streaming down her face set a resolve in him unlike anything he had felt before, and in the moment that he watched the ice around her heart begin to melt he knew there was something that had to be done for her. One large hand reached up to gently cup her face, his thumb stroking along the cold skin of her cheek and wiped away the tears; and though she might not of felt it, he promised that one day she would. Leaning over her, his lips gently pressed to her forehead, sealing his oath to her. He would be her light in the darkness, and her Hope where none would be had.

Static Lullaby Empty Re: Static Lullaby

Evollette didn't feel tired. She didn't feel much of anything, she had come to realize, and while that should have felt sad, or distressing, it felt like nothing at all. What had happened to her to result in something like this? She didn't seem to be dead, or alive, but something between that didn't manage to achieve the jobs usually undertaken by either extreme. As such she drifted aimlessly - with no sense of purpose, no real preference to one outcome or another as guided by death for the longest time, but now Hope lingered. She tried to consider the logical fallacy that was going on with her existence, it seemed pointless to even entertain the notion for any length of time.

He reached up a hand, finger tips meeting the exposed part of Aldrid’s face, her frozen flesh contacting with that of the flesh upon his cheek as he graced her head with the brush of his lips. Trailing down, her hand went to slip behind his neck to only stay there silently, proposing the idea that his touch could linger for a moment upon her body. Just because she could not feel it, did not mean she could not feel the emotions pouring out of that simple action. His massive hands scooped up her face and directed her attention to his own tainted ones. Looking death in the eyes was the most beautiful part of anyone’s life, if they went willingly, sought it with desire, because it brought peace and comfort that there was indeed an end. A sweet, unforgettable ending. A vow for better or for worse, was given upon her once more, by a man with forest green eyes and raven colored hair. Her breasts sank as she let out a silent breath of air, before her body began to melt away from his own.

Static Lullaby Empty Re: Static Lullaby

Aldrid held her a little longer, if only for a brief moment before it passed, and the woman wordlessly pulled away from him. There was a slight pang in his chest, and he couldn't help but feel like letting her go in that second meant something far more. His hand lingered in hers, hesitant, wanting nothing more than to pull her back to him - though as her fingers slipped away from his, and that heavy breath escaped her, he wondered if some burden had left with it. Pushing away the loneliness, he gave her a sweet smile and let his arms fall heavy to his side, pink marks still fresh in his skin.

He looked up to the sky, the very same that Evollette had been staring at, lost in her agony - but his gaze was one of defiance. His shoulders squared back, and standing there as the Gods mocked them with their dwindling light, he looked almost powerful, reminiscent of what he had once been; A figure of hope. He closed his eyes against the cold, cruel kiss that fell down upon them, embracing their desire to mock, welcoming their contempt. It didn't matter to him what they wanted to inflict - out here in that cold rain, he was naked before all, everything stripped away until there was nothing left - nothing more they could take from him... It is only after we have lost everything, that we are free to do anything.
